Domestic Underlays

There are a huge variety of underlays with differing benfits to suit most needs.

Underlay has the following benefits:

• It gives a cushioning effect for a softer feel underfoot.
• Underlay protects the carpet maintaining its appearance for longer.
• Heat insulator, helping to reduce energy costs.
• Noise reduction – the extra cushioning will also help reduce noise.
• Underlay helps keep the longevity of the carpet.

At May Flooring Limited we recommend a good quality underlay and generally use Ball & Young’s Cloud 9 Cirrus which has excellent for thermal and sound characteristics:

• 9mm thickness
• 2.6 tog thermal insulation
• Impact sound insulation of 39dB
• Environmentally friendly – it is made from recycled materials
• Lighter than rubber underlays
• Luxury use for general domestic areas such as living rooms and bedrooms

For Under Floor Heating Systems, we would recommend an underlay with a lower tog rating than Cloud 9 Cirrus and will be happy to discuss alternatives.  We supply a variety of underlays to suit all needs and budgets.
